The past few months have been full of activity in the Chapter House, and the results are breathtaking! Truly this little chapter house built for the glory of God and honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary will stand as a testament of love and devotion to God.
The Chapter House Floor
Beginning in March, the skilled masons from Brekhus Tile laid out the intricate inlaid marble floor. Throughout the floor ornate medallions bear symbols of Jesus and Mary, the Cross and the M.
The Chapter House Choir Stalls
Shortly afterwards, the carpenters of Talleres de Arte Granda installed the choir stalls. The intricate carving and rich detailing, so unique in the monastery, remind the soul that this is the house of God, to whom all glory and honor is due.
The monks frequently refer to the Chapter House as the “hermitage of Our Lady” and the overflowing beauty found in every little element stand in strong contrast to the austerity and simplicity of the monk’s cell. This is fitting, for owing everything to God, and receiving all graces through Mary, It is only right that we should strive to give all we can in return.
