The final work of the monastery construction is the monastery Chapel, where the monks will gather eight times each day to praise and worship God in the liturgy. Each stone has been meticulously shaped and cut and serves both as a structural part of the building, as well as a means of uplifting the soul to God. The first stone to be set is the base, or foundation, of the columns that soar up to the vaulted ceiling, drawing the eye and heart up to the heavens.
After carving enough stone to begin, the first stone was set on the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin on September 8th. May God be praised! We know it will take several years to complete the Chapel but we trust that the good Lord who has begun this holy work will bring it swiftly to completion. May this edifice be completed quickly and become a source of great glory to God and the salvation of souls!
